Mr + Mrs Mattingly

Alex Mattingly
16 Years Old

"I would like to express how much Martial Arts has helped our daughter Alex blossom into a wonderful young adult with the help and guidance of Karate Leadership UK.. 3 Years ago Alex lost interest in physical activities and lost direction as is typical with modern teenagers. We as parents felt Karate would give Alex a physical release, coupled with discipline and respect. Alex has surpassed our expections by becoming a confident, well balanced young lady. Our thanks goes out to the team at Karate Leadership UK Lordswood, in helping Alex to acheive where she is today."

Mr Joy (Granddad)

Christopher Joy
9 Years Old

"Christopher likes Karate. He pushes me to bring him twice a week. 2 years ago he could not get down on the floor and was very unsure of his abilities. Christopher has special needs, (multiple dysfunctional) he does however have loads of confidence in everyday life and is always happy and cheerful. His school Abbey Court are very proud of what he has achieved in the last 2 years. He has recently enjoyed inclusion with Bryon Road School, there he mixes in mainstream classes and is liked by all his mainstream friends. I believe karate has had a part to play in this progress since he started."

Student, Aged 8

"My Son, who is 8 years old, has a severe receptive and expressive language delay, also a considerable delay in developing his skills particularly motor and cognitive. He has an Autistic Spectrum disorder and a short attention span.
9 months ago he was a quiet, withdrawn child virtually unable to speak. His school age was judged to be around 5 max.
He needed tasks to raise his self esteem and a therapist at his school recommended Karate. He joined Karate Leadership UK approximately 6 months ago and the difference is quite amazing.

Today he is a confident, talkative young man who displays self discipline and a desire to help me - a single dad. There is no comparison between the child 6/7 months ago and now. A recent item of school work has been judged to be around 7 years of age and if he continues to improve at this rate there is a real possibility that that he will go into mainstream secondary school."
